THE SERVICE
What Are Artificial Grass Insert Strips?
Insert strips are narrow, custom-fitted sections of synthetic turf placed between hardscape elements — the gaps between concrete slabs, the joints in a paver pattern, or the bands where stone meets stone. They create a soft green contrast that natural grass struggles to hold in such tight, sunny spaces.
✓ For homeowners: a modern look for driveways, entry paths and patios
✓ For commercial properties: tidy green detailing in selected hardscape designs
✓ Fitted to your existing layout where the site is suitable
✓ No mowing or edging of thin grass lines
DESIGN IDEAS
Insert Strip Design Gallery
A few of the layouts artificial grass inserts can create. Every design is adapted to the hardscape already on site.
Parallel driveway strips
Long, straight bands of turf running between driveway slabs or ribbons.
Walkway joint strips
Thin green lines between stepping pavers on an entry or garden path.
Geometric patio inserts
A grid of turf inserts that frames large-format patio pavers.
Turf-to-stone transitions
Crisp edges where natural stone meets a strip of artificial grass.

APPLICATIONS
Where Insert Strips Can Be Used
Turf inserts suit many hardscapes — but not all. Traffic loads, drainage, the substrate under the joints and the materials involved all shape what we recommend, and some surfaces are better left as they are.
Driveways & paver layouts
Strips between slabs or within a paver driveway, planned around tire paths.
Walkways & garden paths
Green joints between stepping stones or a paver walkway.
Patios & outdoor living
Grid or banded inserts framing a paver patio or seating area.
Selected commercial hardscapes
Entrances, courtyards and plazas where access, use and upkeep allow.
Poolside or terrace details
Small accent strips where conditions permit. For full pool surrounds, see pool turf.

CUSTOM DESIGN
Custom Design and Precision Fitting
With insert strips, small details are what you see. Each strip is measured and cut for its own joint, so the layout can follow your existing paver pattern and the lines of your property.
Strip width
Matched to the gaps in your hardscape — no one-size width.
Spacing & rhythm
Repeats that complement the paver or slab pattern.
Alignment
Straight, consistent lines that read cleanly from the street.
Cutting & seams
Careful cuts and minimal, well-placed seams.
Edge finishing
Tidy edges where turf meets concrete or stone.
Product choice
Turf selected for the look and use of the area.
PREPARATION
Surface Preparation and Drainage
Florida downpours make drainage a priority. Turf inserts must not obstruct the way water leaves your hardscape or undermine the pavers around them, so we assess each site before planning preparation. Learn more about artificial grass drainage.
Existing hardscape
Condition and stability of the pavers or slabs.
Joint depth
Whether gaps can hold and secure a strip.
Base condition
What sits beneath the joints today.
Slope
Which way the surface falls.
Runoff
Where water travels during heavy rain.
Drainage pathways
Keeping existing paths for water open.
Preparation is site-specific — there is no universal method, and turf alone won't fix an existing drainage problem.

FAQ
Artificial Grass Insert Strip FAQs
What are artificial grass insert strips?
They are narrow, custom-cut pieces of synthetic turf fitted into the joints or open bands between pavers, concrete slabs, stone or other hardscape. The result is a green, grid-like or linear contrast against the hard surface without the trimming and patchy growth that natural grass often has in tight spaces.
Can artificial grass be installed between pavers?
Often, yes — when the joints are wide and deep enough to hold a strip, the pavers are stable and water has somewhere to go. We assess the joint size, base and drainage first, and recommend a different approach if the layout isn't suitable for turf.
Can turf inserts be added to an existing driveway?
Sometimes. Some existing driveways have gaps, planting bands or joints that can be prepared for turf; others would need hardscape changes first. It depends on the slab layout, joint depth, base condition and how the driveway is used, so we confirm suitability during the site assessment.
How wide should artificial grass strips be?
There is no single correct width. Strip width is chosen to suit the gaps in your hardscape, the look you want, how the area is used and what can be fitted and secured cleanly. We'll measure your site and talk through options that fit your existing paver pattern.
How is drainage managed between turf and pavers?
Turf inserts should never block the way water already leaves the hardscape. We look at slope, runoff direction, joint depth and base conditions, then plan the preparation so water can still move through or around the strips. Turf alone won't fix an existing drainage problem.
Can artificial grass inserts handle vehicle traffic?
Not every insert is suited to vehicle loads. Performance depends on where the strips sit relative to tire paths, the product chosen, the base underneath and the condition of the surrounding hardscape. For driveways we discuss traffic patterns before recommending a layout.
How do you clean and maintain turf inserts?
Insert strips need light, regular care: blow or brush away leaves and debris, rinse the turf occasionally, and check edges where they meet the hardscape. They don't need mowing, but they are not maintenance-free — upkeep depends on the product, use and site conditions.
What affects artificial grass insert-strip installation costs?
Cost depends on the total length and number of strips, joint preparation, the turf product, how much precision cutting the layout needs, site access and any hardscape or drainage work. Because every layout is different, we provide pricing after measuring the site.
